Sitok Srengenge

Sitok Srengenge was born in 1965 in Dorolegi, Central Java.  He is a highly acclaimed poet, writer, editor; he also serves as Literature and Theatre Curator at the Utan Kayu Arts Community Center in Jakarta as well as editor of the Kalam cultural journal.
Sitok has published a number of books, including his collections of poetry Wild Coupling (1992, 1994), Bastard (2000), Nonsense (2000), On Nothing, Selected Poems (2005); and his novel Seasoning a Flying Bird (2004) and a trilogy Kutil (2006).
     In 2000, Srengenge was cited by Asiaweek magazine as one of twenty ‘leaders for the Millenium in society and culture’ in Asia. In 2001, he took part in the International Writing Program in University of Iowa, USA. He is currently writing on a new novel  A Cup of Soup for Sorrow and working as a general manager at his own publishing house, KataKita.
