Mohamad Guntur Romli born in Situbondo, East Java. Studied Islamic philosophy at the Al-Azhar University of Cairo, Egypt until 2004. While in Cairo he was an overseas correspondent for the Magazine Panji Masyarakat and the newsweekly GATRA. He writes on religion, Middle East politics and literature. Besides being the curator of discussions at Teater Utan Kayu, he is also the editor of the Liberal Islam Network (Jaringan Islam Liberal or JIL).
